As the philanthropic arm of Macquarie Group, the Macquarie Group Foundation is one of Australia's oldest and largest corporate benefactors. Together with Macquarie staff, the Foundation has contributed more than $A300 million to thousands of community organisations since 1985, through financial giving, volunteering and skills sharing.
In addition to the capacity building and programmatic grants to community organisations the Foundation provides, Macquarie employees also invest many hours of support to not-for-profit organisations in a volunteer, pro bono, board and executive capacity.
The Tiwi Islands has been supported by the Hayden Reynolds Tiwi Project since 2010. Macquarie is a principal funder of the project, which has raised more than $A2 million for education and training facilities. Macquarie Sports has also hosted sporting clinics on the islands, providing equipment, coaching and sporting role models to help inspire and motivate local youth.
