“When Anime Meets Dreamtime, Magic Happens”

Meet the Tiwi Islands’ newest animation scholarship student AND internationally commissioned artist, our very own Maletta Warrior!

Last month we shared a beautiful video of Maletta’s amazing Dreamtime Anime, produced by ABC Australia. A winner of the Heywire Storytelling Competition, Maletta’s art and story was broadcast around the country – and the phone hasn’t stopped ringing since!

We are absolutely delighted to announce since the broadcast, Maletta has accepted a full scholarship to CG Spectrum College of Art & Animation. Maletta will be learning from some of the world’s most acclaimed animators, best known for film and TV like Avatar, Hercules, Rick and Morty and many more.

Maletta will be receiving private tutorials and mentorship while she completes her schooling at Tiwi College with the option to continue her studies with CG Spectrum towards a Bachelor Degree!

And it doesn't stop there! Maletta has also been commissioned to showcase her Dreamtime Anime at the Manchester Museum in the UK. Her work will be displayed in a permanent gallery that includes digital art comics to tell stories of belonging. Maletta's art will relate to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultural heritage.
