Feral Cats
Yesterday, we continued our Junior Ranger's program with the help of Charles Darwin University and Tiwi Rangers by diving into the impact of feral cats on Tiwi Island's biodiversity. The students had an action-packed day! They set traps using different types of bait, dissected cats to learn more about their diet, and checked SD cards to spot cats on camera.
One of the highlights was using an AI-powered camera that can detect cats from a distance—helping with monitoring and managing their population. It’s amazing to see our students getting hands-on experience in conservation!
