FGH Initiative Fete Day

On Thursday the 17th of August, the Tiwi College community and friends enjoyed the 2023 Family Group Homes initiative Fete Day. A wonderful celebration for families and friends to visit Tiwi College to celebrate the students hard work and efforts put in over the last two terms to run five successful fundraising stalls.

This year we were honoured with special pre-fete entertainment performed by the Ngarukuruwala Singing group. Thank you Ngarukuruwala for providing our guests with such a wonderful cultural showcase which was made possible by fete sponsors Bright Moon Trust & Manuel Brown MLA.

Information stalls and sponsorship contributions were very appreciated. It was great experience to have organisations to share their work, be generous with time, gifts and contributions which made the fete a wonderful day for the all the fete attendees.

The 2023 Tiwi College Fete was generously supported by: Bright Moon Trust, Manuel Brown MLA, Mamanta, Jilamara, Tiwi Designs, Tiwi Islands Training and Employment Board, Remote School Attendance Strategy, Darwin Wildlife Sanctuary, The Indigenous Literacy Foundation, Chartair, Tiwi Land Council, Red Dust, Scotch College, Melbourne, The Salty Plum Shop, Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia, Essendon Football Club and contributing staff & families.

Each of the Family Group Home stalls made a profit which will be used to enhance the Boarding Homes. Generously, Tiwi College students will be donating a combined total of over $1000 towards their various chosen charity organisations. The Family Group Home Life skills program allows our students invaluable lessons from the planning, creating and running of the Fete. A special shout out to the Tiwi College staff for a great effort and we sincerely thank all who attended and contributed helped to make the day a huge success!
