Introducing JYW Teacher

We are excited to introduce our Junior Young Women's teacher Angie Harris.

Angie was born in 1975 in Muswellbrook, nestled in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales, Australia. Growing up near the Hunter River and close to the Barrington Tops National Park, she developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

After completing her studies, Angie traveled to England to teach and explore. Her fascination with diverse cultures and the beauty of the natural world has been a lifelong passion. Her love for the sea led her to explore the Pacific Islands, including Hawaii in 2022 and Aotearoa New Zealand in 2019, before returning to Australia.

Angie’s interest in the visual arts began in her early years through drawing and deepened when she pursued a Bachelor of Visual Arts. Her enthusiasm and knowledge of the arts has helped students foster the same enthusiasm that she has for the visual arts and Photographic and Digital media.

Her passion for wildlife is a re-occurring theme in her work. She travelled to Africa following her dream and love of animals and music. She learnt about the art, music and dance of West Africa and has continued to explore these artforms further in her personal and professional life.
