Rangers & CDU Program
We've had an action-packed time with the Tiwi Rangers & Lands, Planning and Environment NT scientists. Here’s a quick recap of our adventures this week:
Set up new wildlife monitoring sites, including a pitfall trap near the creek and two camera sites (one in the creek and one in the woodland).
We went spotlighting to observe nocturnal mammals and birds.
Live trapping was a success! We checked traps for small mammals, reptiles, and bats, and safely released them back into their habitats.
Our bird call recognition training in the classroom was a hit, followed by visual and auditory surveys around the woodland and creek.
We conducted a diurnal active search, checking traps and ensuring the wellbeing of our wildlife friends.
Finally, we retrieved SD cards from the cameras and processed the data, ensuring we have backup for future analysis.
Thanks to everyone involved for making this week so enriching and fun!
