Year 6 Orientation


We are excited to welcome Year 6 students from Milikapiti and Pularumpi Primary Schools to Tiwi College for a special two-day orientation event. This is an excellent opportunity for students to explore the campus, meet their future peers and teachers, and experience a taste of life at Tiwi College.

Thursday 14th November

  • 8:00 am: Departure from Picka for community pick-ups at Milikapiti and Garden Point.
    Drivers: Deanne, Kevin, Stacey

  • 9:00 am: Arrival in community to collect students, teachers, and families.
    Milikapiti: 5 students from Milikapiti Primary School.
    Garden Point: 8 students from Pularumpi Primary School.

  • 9:30 am: Depart community and head back to Tiwi College.

  • 10:30 am - 11:00 am: Arrival at Tiwi College. Meet and Greet with the Principal, Greg Hollis, followed by an induction video and a preview of the new Red Dust music video.

  • 11:30 am: Campus tour – Students will explore key areas of the campus, including the creek, airport, hospitality facilities, work shed, and more.
    Guided by: Stacey & Kevin

  • 12:00 pm: Lunch at Wellbeing – Enjoy sandwiches and fruit, provided by FGH.

  • 12:30 pm: Farm Visit – A walk around the farm, including a fun treasure hunt activity.
    Guided by: Demaga & Filipe, with assistance from Stacey & Nathan.

  • 1:15 pm: Visit Junior Classrooms – Meet the teachers and experience a glimpse of daily classroom activities.
    Guided by: James & Cilia.

  • 2:00 pm: Afternoon Tea break – Students join others on the basketball courts for some relaxation and social time.

  • 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm: Art session – Creative activities with Tiwi College's Art department.
    Led by: Jane, Stacey, and Savage.

  • 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm: Walk to the Creek – A calming nature walk to the Creek with Tiwi staff.
    Guided by: Savage, Stacey, and Jane.

  • 4:00 pm: School day finishes. Students head to the Family Group Homes (FGH) for an afternoon tea break.

  • 4:30 pm: Visit Family Group Homes – Students will drop off their bags, meet their FGH parents, and tour the boarding homes.

  • 5:30 pm: Refresh and relax in preparation for dinner.

  • 6:00 pm: Community Dinner at the Basketball Courts – A communal meal to welcome new students.

  • 8:30 pm: Supper – A light evening snack.

  • 9:00 pm: Lights Out – Rest time for all students.

Friday 15th November

  • 7:30 am: Breakfast provided by FGH’s.

  • 8:30 am - 1:45 pm: Tiwi Friday Activities – Students will participate in a series of fun and engaging cultural and recreational activities, organised by Tiwi staff.

  • 2:00 pm: Whole School Assembly – A gathering for the entire school, with introductions and an overview of the week.

  • 2:30 pm: Departure from Picka.

We look forward to welcoming our future Tiwi College students for a memorable and exciting orientation experience!
