Junior Rangers - Aerial Fire Management

Last week’s rain slowed down the Rangers’ burning schedule, but it did give them a chance to drop into Tiwi College and teach Junior Rangers about using helicopters for aerial fire management. Last year Rangers flew 5,398 km across the Tiwi Islands and deployed 36,408 incendiaries! Burning early in the dry season breaks up country and prevents the spread of hotter fires later in the season.
